About Us

About the island

Neebish Island is approximately seven miles long and three miles wide. It lies in the middle of the St. Mary's River in Michigan's upper penninsula. Lake freighters carrying iron ore to steel mills in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois can be see passing by Birch Tree Cottages on a daily basis

We have a large population of deer and it's likely you'll see them early in the morning or during dusk. You may see other animals such as mink, squirrel, fox, turkey, bear, beaver, duck, geese, eagles, hummingbirds, and all other Michigan birds which are always in the air and on the water.

Fishing the St. Mary's River on the Munoscong Bay will bring walleye, bass, pike, perch, salmon and muskie. We provide boats for your convienence, you only need rent the motor. We have 15 horsepower motors available for rent for $150 per week.

We have a peaceful relaxing atmosphere and watching the passing lake and ocean freighters may be all you desire to do. We have outstanding sunsets every night and if you're lucky you may even see the Northern Lights!

About your hosts

Carolyn and Warren Geralds have been married since 1958. We bought this piece of property in 1980 and started renting in 1981. In 2001 we began a complete rennovation to the cottages, apartment, and main house. We continue to invest in making sure the grounds are beautiful and ready to be enjoyed by all. We love spending our time visiting with our children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren! You can typically find us playing a myriad of card games, keeping busy around the island, or enjoying an evening movie on TV.

We look forward to hosting you and your family for a relaxing vacation you'll never forget!
